What is a non-standard euro pallet?
It's a wooden pallet with the exact dimensions of the standard europallet (1200 × 800 × 144 mm) but without official EPAL/EUR certification. It shares the geometry, number of entry points, approximate weight and compatibility with standard forklifts, pallet trucks and racking. The difference is in what it doesn't include: the EPAL brand mark, traceable supplier control and a licence from the EPAL European Pallet Association.
For 70-80% of real B2B flows (national distribution, internal storage, intra-EU export), that certification isn't essential. Paying for a certified EPAL pallet to send trays of cartons to a customer in Catalonia is like buying a Mercedes to deliver pizzas: sure, it works, but it's overkill.

Real cost per trip: the maths that changes the decision
Comparing the unit purchase price is the most expensive mistake a pallet buyer can make. What matters is the cost per useful cycle.
Company A — The pallet doesn't come back
Distributes to shops and the pallet stays at destination. Each pallet completes its single cycle. The real cost per trip is simply the purchase price. Buying the semi-heavy pallet would be over-engineering: they'd pay 30-40% more for a service life they'd never use.

Company B — The pallet comes back
Distributes to their own branches. If they buy the one-way pallet, it will handle 2-3 cycles before needing replacement. Working out the purchase cost divided by actual cycles, the one-way pallet ends up more expensive than buying the semi-heavy pallet and squeezing out 10-12 cycles.

The rule: divide the pallet price by the actual number of cycles you'll get out of it. The winner in €/cycle is almost always the right pallet for your operation — not the cheapest one.
NIMF-15 treatment: when you need it
Both products can be treated on request with certified HT heat treatment (56°C, 30 min) and an IPPC stamp. But this is only necessary if you're exporting outside the EU.

For dry storage and local distribution, both products work well. If your audit requires grade A (no stains, no splinters), specify it in the order.
Manufacturing and production
Semi-heavy pallet by default for internal rotation (line → buffer → palletising → dispatch). One-way pallet if the outbound operation does not recover the pallet.
E-commerce and seasonal retail
One-way pallets for campaign peaks (Black Friday, Christmas, sales). Lets you scale volume without tying up capital in surplus assets come February.
Export
Within the EU: standard one-way or semi-heavy pallets depending on your operation. Outside the EU: add NIMF-15 treatment made to order, same lead time as delivery.

01 What's the difference between the one-way pallet and the semi-heavy pallet if the dimensions are the same?
The difference is in strength and cost, not size. The one-way pallet weighs 9-10 kg and handles 500 kg dynamic load; the semi-heavy pallet weighs 14-16 kg and handles 800-1,000 kg dynamic load across multiple cycles. The semi-heavy pallet costs 30-40% more, but that extra cost pays for itself if the pallet goes back and forth to your warehouse several times.
02 Which one is cheaper?
The one-way pallet always has the lower unit purchase price. That doesn't mean it's the most cost-effective option for your operation, though. If you reuse the pallet more than 3-4 times, the semi-heavy pallet works out cheaper per actual use cycle.
03 Can I mix one-way pallets and semi-heavy pallets in the same order?
Yes. Many customers buy mixed batches from us: one-way pallets for single-direction shipments and semi-heavy pallets for internal flow. We handle it without any problem on the same order, same delivery and same invoice.
04 What are the exact dimensions of the non-standard euro pallet?
It measures 1200 × 800 × 144 mm — the same dimensions as the officially certified EPAL pallet. The difference lies in the certification and branding, not the physical size.
05 Is it suitable for export?
