When to choose the One-Way Pallet?
The right choice when at least one of these operating conditions applies:
One-way shipment with no return
Your goods leave the warehouse and the pallet doesn't come back. The end customer receives it, recycles it or disposes of it. Investing in EPAL or the semi-heavy pallet is over-engineering: you'd be paying for durability you'll never use.
Examples: Wholesale distribution to shops, intra-EU export where the customer recycles, promotional or clearance batches.
Light rotating storage
Block stacking (no racking) with loads not exceeding 500 kg in motion. When the pallet wears out, you take it out of circulation. The cost per cycle stays the lowest on the market.
Examples: Secondary warehouses, buffer spaces between production lines, temporary storage of finished product.
Promotional distribution or one-off events
You need high volume in a short window (Christmas campaign, launch, event) and you're not going to reuse the pallets. The one-way pallet handles the peak without tying up capital in surplus assets.
Examples: Seasonal retail, trade fair setups, sample distribution, one-off supply for chains.
Low-cost intra-EU export
Distribution within the EU where the customer doesn't return the packaging. No need for NIMF-15 for destinations within the EU. Maximum efficiency per unit shipped.
Examples: Export to France, Portugal, Italy, Germany with a customer who manages their own waste disposal.

Do you need to export outside the EU?
The standard one-way pallet doesn't come with NIMF-15 treatment. To export to the US, China, Brazil, Mexico or the UK, regulations require HT heat treatment (56°C, 30 min) with a visible IPPC stamp. Without the stamp, the goods can be rejected at customs.

Frequently asked questions about the One-Way Pallet
01 Why is it called a "one-way pallet"?
Because it's designed for shipments where the pallet doesn't come back: it leaves the warehouse with the goods and stays at the destination. The name describes the operation: from the shipper's point of view, the pallet only makes the trip one way.
02 Can it hold 1,000 kg without breaking?
In static conditions (stacked, no movement), yes: up to 1,000 kg on a flat surface. In dynamic conditions (with a forklift or pallet truck), the limit is 500 kg. Exceeding the recommended dynamic load can cause deformation or broken boards.
03 Can I put it on racking?
Not recommended. The one-way pallet isn't designed for lateral support on racking. If your operation involves pallet racking, use the semi-heavy pallet or certified EPAL.
04 Is it suitable for export to the United States or China?
Only with NIMF-15 (HT) treatment, made to order. International phytosanitary regulations require solid wood packaging exported outside the EU to be heat-treated at 56°C for 30 minutes and marked with the IPPC stamp. The fumigation lead time matches the delivery time.
05 Is it classed as waste once it's used up?
Yes, it falls under the non-hazardous wood waste category (LER 150103). In Catalonia, its management is regulated by the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (Catalan Waste Agency). Flexpal is registered as a waste manager and can take care of removal as part of the full service.
06 How long do they last if I reuse them internally?
The one-way pallet isn't designed for multiple cycles. If you reuse them internally, expect 2-4 short cycles before they need to be retired due to wear. If your operation needs more durability, the semi-heavy pallet's extra cost pays for itself within just a few months.
07 Do you deliver to Girona and Lleida, or only Barcelona?
We serve all three provinces. From Granollers we have direct access to the AP-7 towards Girona (usual delivery 24-48h in southern Selva, 48-72h in the rest of Girona) and the A-2 towards Lleida (usual delivery 48-72h along the Lleida-Mollerussa-Cervera corridor).
